Erid has seen little of Grace and Rocky. The alien is sick. Rocky is the only one who knows how to take care of it. They have clung to each other desperately tight. And Grace is worried. Rocky has not seen Adrian more than a handful of times since they arrived six months ago. Rocky has essentially no social life. They have not left each other’s sides for nearly five years. This is, obviously, a problem.
Grace isn’t as sick. He doesn’t need Rocky to take care of him anymore. And Grace will do what he has to so that Rocky can resume living a normal life with Adrian. So what if Grace absolutely can’t be alone? So what if the thoughts are getting overwhelming? So what if Adrian kind of hates him? This is for Rocky’s sake. He’ll be okay.

Simultaneous surprise and arousal hit Rocky like twin bolts of frenetic lightning. He would almost break out into joyous song if that didn’t feel slightly inappropriate in light of Grace’s burning bashfulness. “Oh, Rocky understand now,” he gently cuts in. “Grace is a virgin.”

There’s a few pictures of himself and Ochako together, clicking one he smiles at their zoomed in faces squished together cheek to cheek. He swipes to the next selfie, feeling his heartbeat calming and his anxiety lessening as he forces himself to remember how happy he was in each one. Again, he moves on to the next picture. A shaky shot of Ochako, drinking from a glass stacked comically high with swirls of whipped cream.
His phone buzzes, a message notification popping up at the top of his screen with Kacchan’s name across it. He’s opening it before he can think to regret it–hands shaking.
Kacchan: Can’t this weekend. Taking Eijirou mountain climbing.
Kacchan: Maybe next time.
He breaks his phone.
