She manages not to completely eat shit while she shuffles over and snuggles up next to Ayda, who is wonderfully cosy and warm and who puts an arm around Adaine in a way that makes Adaine want to die on the spot. “Wow,” she says breathlessly, while the lion plays tetherball with her heart, “Fig is really lucky that she’s your girlfriend.”
Hang on, says Adaine’s brain. I don’t think we’re supposed to say things like that.
But it’s true, a different part of her brain argues back against whoever said the first thing. Fig IS lucky.
Well, her brain says, it’s hard to argue with that logic.
