Egwene al’Vere and Perrin Aybara have been separated from their friends, traveling with a man who can speak to wolves. After weeks on the road with little to eat and not much more than hedges for shelter, it was easy to push through her anxiety about approaching the Tinkers as the smell of their cook fires after toward them through the woods.
She quickly learned that the Traveling People called themselves the Tua’athon. She also learned, rather quickly, that the tales she’d grown up with of Tinkers stealing babies away from villages was nothing more than prejudice and lies. Among the wagons, she found a joyful, peaceful people. Even if their color schemes did hurt her eyes.
When Aram, the grandson of the leader, or Seeker, of this band of Tua’athon came by his grandparents’ camp to say hello, Egwene was pleased when he decided to stay for a while. She was even more pleased later on when he asked her to dance with him.
