Summary
Caderyn’s king is dying.
Envoys gather to pay their respects and watch the sun set on the fragile island nation. None stand to gain more from Caderyn's weakness then the Talor empire which has long coveted the spit of islands controlling trade out of the Bay of Anadyr. Sent in his father's place, Achaios, the eldest and most troublesome son of one of the Talor high governors is intent to do as little politicking as possible. Being quite content to leave the wooing of Caderyn in the capable hands of the ambitious senator, Cassion Morderus.
His plans to remain uninvolved and uninterested in Caderyn's fate become difficult to see through after a chance encounter with the dying king's nephew, and the former heir, Isene - a beautiful man haunted by a goddess's love and a curse foretelling his early death. As the two are drawn together, they are forced to navigate gods, politics, obsession, and fate.
