Summary
It was near impossible to spot anybody on the dance floor as people constantly shifted in and out and the lights flashed various colors around them. While she was scanning the center of the room, she noticed a platform of clear glass raised above the masses of people like a stage from which the most important people could gaze over the crowds. Her eyes caught on a woman sat amongst a sea of people of various genders all dressed in assorted signifiers of submission.
The woman themself was clad in some sort of elaborate corset and trousers both in vibrant reds. With their long hair draped over one shoulder the woman sat back with their legs spread. She radiated a casual dominance as she surveyed the room. One of the dotting admirers lifted the woman’s drink to their lips. They accepted the straw between their lips without raising a finger, appearing almost bored despite the whirling party surrounding them.
Aka Magnus is a nonbinary femme club owner and Alec is an autistic butch just trying to drag her best friend out of trouble. They meet by chance and dyke shit occurs.

Summary
Magnus sees their soulmate’s spirit animal for the first time when their stepfather is blaming them for the death of their mother. A huge black cat-like creature appears beside Magnus, growling at their stepfather. They have never seen such a creature before, have no idea what kind of animal it is. As the shock of what they have done starts to fill their mind, it licks their hand and rubs itself against their small body. It probably saves them from turning on themself.
Alec is five years old when he starts asking questions about the beautiful parrot that follows him everywhere, and appears to look after him when adults are not around. Alec has already named the bird Sparkles because of how the feathers shine in the sunlight. He quickly learns not to mention it because, apparently, no one else can see it.

Summary
When it’s almost 6, they are cleaning the coffee machine together and Alec decides to make another move. Just to see if the blushing all the time actually means that Magnus likes him too, or is just how Magnus is coded.
“You know,” he starts casually, while cleaning the top of the machine as Magnus takes out the milk container to change it, “If I would’ve gone to the party, I would’ve asked you to come with me.”
The reaction he gets is nothing he expected.
Magnus fumbles with the milk container and it slips, smearing their shirt while falling onto the ground, milk flowing over the floor.
“Jesus-” Magnus goes down on the floor to pick it back up but Alec gets there first.
“Are you okay?” he asks, concerned. It was just milk, okay, but still. Magnus seems very upset.
“I’m- yes. Sorry about that, I’m just so clumsy all the time.” Magnus blabbers, waving their hands and trying to clean their shirt. The stain on it just grows bigger.
Alec chuckles. “It’s adorable.” he says and Magnus blushes.

Some part of him still expects it to be earth-shattering, but it’s not. It’s almost nothing, just a word, a single syllable that falls out of his lips easily. It doesn’t suddenly make everything click into place, or scramble his whole being.
