"Roger tried his best to stay calm, to be a steady, reassuring presence for Mark. Internally, his mind was reeling. There was a lot they didn’t talk about, and that included the time leading up to and after April’s death.
He hadn’t let himself think about how much that time had impacted Mark. While Roger was being reckless with his body, with his life, Mark had been there. Ready to pick up the pieces, to put him back together, as much as he could.
And when Roger had finally hit rock bottom, Mark was still there. Helping him get clean and stay clean, through the withdrawals, the long nights, all of it. No matter how much Roger tried to push him away."
After a tough reminder of the past leaves Mark shaken, Roger comforts him and the two of them finally confront the feelings that have been between them for longer than they'd like to admit.
