Buffy's nose twitched.
"147 days."
"Huh." It was a reaction more like that of Oz than not, and that made Spike warier in some ways, and he had gone up to her and had seemed to steel himself.
"Pardon me, Slayer-" and as she'd tilted her head he'd struck her nose only to stare as did she when there was no reaction. For a moment his game face was visible as he looked down at Willow but Buffy shook her head.
"I'm me, Spike. Believe me."

That's the difference between you and me.
This darker version of Willow squatted by her in a grim mockery of where this had all started, her face a stoic, murderously enraged mask. Every part of her hurt and Faith stared in utter terror at this pale spider-veined monster and with that sickening realization of just what lay behind that rage, she realized this might be how she went out.
You know what it feels like, now. Your body, completely in the control of something you can't stop, and you can't control. You hurt me, Faith. Went out of your way to try to ruin my life.
Willow then stood up right as her friends had found her, knowing what that light had meant even when Faith didn't.
But I'm not like you, and I never will be. Right now. Try me again and I'll flay you and burn you to ashes.
Faith found herself fully believing Red in that moment for reasons besides being on her back after being brutally ragdolled, not least of them the relish in that tone as the pale spider-veined monster had grinned at her for the first time.

Ever since Dawn tried to clean Buffy's hands with the wet towel, she felt an immense urge to just rip her skin off and resume what she had planned to do up in that tower.
It wasn’t that long until she heard Dawn’s voice and someone else’s in the hallway. She was just supposed to get her bandages.
Spike?
No, this is a joke, right? A bad one. Maybe she was right, and this was hell. But she had to make sure, right? So, she walked two steps behind Dawn to catch a glimpse of that blonde hair. Hair, which the last time she saw it, it was threaded between her fingers and on top of her in bed. Had that been real? Or was that part of the death too?
The night she died, she had made two mistakes. One, thinking that jumping off and finding her Gift would bring her peace and rest. And two, sleeping with Spike for some semblance of comfort.
God, if there was one, was calling her bluff.

Willow relaxed a bit as she met the supposed Coven lady's gaze directly.

Willow shrugged. "Didn't care in high school, I'm really not going to start caring now."
She leaned forward, catching the eyes of a pretty dirty blonde with a zigzag part who was very clearly smitten with her.
"Now we're here for a Wicca group, right?"
"....."
"Yeah?"
"Well how about spells?"
Silence, for a moment, then the blonde with the zig-zag part spoke up. "S-She's r-right..."

“God, why can’t you care?” Dawn asks, exasperated.
Because it’s fun. Because it feels good to be wanted and cared for and needed. Because it’s been too long since she’s had a good lay. Because Buffy is the closest to a god Faith’s ever gotten, including her fifteen-year upbringing in Catholicism. Because she’s wanted this for years. Because she can’t believe Buffy wants it too, and she’s not going to waste the opportunity. Because she can’t say no to Buffy. Because Buffy looks at Faith and for a minute she can believe that she’s more than a lowly fucking dog.
Because it’s Buffy.
Or: Buffy gets to the Bronze sooner. Faith just can't help herself.

I held a vote and it was a 50/50 split between one shot and slow burn, so I’ve tried my best to make each chapter a one shot whilst also having a larger slowly burning eventual romance!

Tara couldn't resist a smirk at that and Donny had become red-faced with rage and then Willow had just raised her right hand and they began to feel the immensity of her power, that brooding thunderstorm feeling and the silence was deafening.
"You broke down my door. You're lucky if the landlord doesn't sue you for that. Get. Out."
They ran, then, and that was when the spell of fear began to break.

Tara tensed and for a moment Kennedy almost swore she was ready for a fight, as she shook her head. "I don't care if she is, about the part of her that'd care about the men. And I said might be." She gave her a sharp look.
"But the straight girl doesn't actually go gay, and you shouldn't have been playing with her feelings and letting her play with yours that way, and you especially shouldn't have been doing that in a relationship with someone hurt just like that. I've been figuring out how to go about this more uh..." she waved her hand. "Delicately. Girl's been hurt. I come across too strong she might turn me into a frog."
Tara's jaw was tight.
"Buffy wanted it."
Kennedy scoffed. "Everything I hear, what little of it that is, shows she didn't know what she wanted. She was horny for the same vampire that killed over two dozen people under the influence of the thing that drove us all here. She was happier with him than you-" and she wasn't the least bit intimidated when Tara's hands closed into fists.
