Summary:
Luke Carder wakes up to find himself face to face with the video game characters he just watched delete themselves on his computer yesterday. After a lot of confusion, Luke finds himself on an adventure to try to figure out the game of inscription himself - well, with the assistance of some of the locals who are very bad at admitting they are thrilled to have a new best friend.Luke staggered to his feet, hoping to see his beloved camera around him - no dice. He was quick to turn to his pockets, but found them empty. Letting out a heavy sigh, he muttered to dead air "great, well this is just incredible. Guess I'm going to run into a bear out here and die or something."
His words, of course, garnered no response, but with enough talking to a camera, that's something you get used to. Without any idea where he was going, Luke set off, trying to search his scraps of memory to figure out how the hell he could have gotten this deep into the woods.

Neither spoke for what felt like hours, until finally, Luke found his voice once again.
"You aren't real." Was the only thing that came into his head. This couldn't be real, not in a million years. And yet, those familiar eyes stared back at him.
That seemed to get a laugh out of the old photographer, a bit of a broken one. "I'm quite real, as far as I'm concerned. Are you?"
Luke felt a weight on his chest seemingly lift, and he laughed. This situation was ridiculous, impossible, unfathomable. And yet, the eyes on him didn't waver, and didn't laugh along.
"I'm not sure anymore, honestly. Man, what the *fuck*?!" The answer was honest, a bit brutally so. Luke felt tears tugging at his eyes, his mind begging for a logical explanation as to why he was facing a character he'd seen in the game he'd dug up in the ground, the game that took over his PC, the game that knew his name, the horrible, cursed disk.Leshy didn't have a response to his laughter, rather, when Luke was done laughing, he spoke up with an invitation.
"Would you like to play a game?"
Luke wiped the tears forming at his eyes.
"You know, why the hell not?"

"I'm not going to win this, am I?"
The older man chuckled lowly at this comment, with a simple, "I suppose not, at least with your current setup."
Luke huffed. He didn't exactly like feeling cornered, but let Leshy get his damage in, wanting this battle to be over. That didn't take long.

P03's expression flicked suddenly to one of shock, something Luke hadn't seen up until that point. And, to make it worse, it was staring right at Luke.
Grimora was, for once, able to take a smug stance herself as P03 glanced between Luke and the other Scrybes. However, Leshy and Luke shared an expression of pure confusion, Luke taking a nervous step back.
"Am I intruding on something? I can go." Luke pointed towards the door, feeling quite nervous and put on the spot. Grimora simply shook her head, and P03 looked away."No, in fact, I'd be happy to have others watch Grimora agree that The Great Transcendence was a better plan than her own." The smug smile returned to it's face.
Grimora grimaced, biting her lower lip before taking a breath.
"Well, I feel like that is a discussion we can have with Magnificus in the room, don't you?" She remarked plainly. "It's for the best all four of us can discuss how to move forward from this point, and with a plan that does not involve you overthrowing the rest of us."
P03s face fell into a disappointed grimace, and it sighed.
"I suppose we don't have much choice at this point, we don't have any idea when a new challenger will be here to try and usurp one of us." The fellow scrybe agreed, though with some reluctance in it's voice. Luke wasn't entirely convinced that was it's actual intention with coming, and Grimora didn't seem either, but in the end, they got the wanted result. "Especially since the Great Transcendence was stopped."
Luke could swear he felt eyes staring at him, but none of the scrybes seemed to glance his way.
"Oh, and Leshy? You're not forgiven for that stunt you pulled." It said with a low growl. "None of you are, but especially not you."
"I think I'll live." Leshy replied, raising an eyebrow at P03.
Grimora already seemed more exhausted. Hopefully, this part of the road trip would be short.

There was a hum of thinking around the room, before P-03 spoke up, "I suppose we could count you as a playtester. I mean, you DID set up an entire store for me, tested all the mechanics, all of that." It's expression was smug.
Right, the whole stupid idiot gamer thing.. Luke sighed. Guess the game was prepared to go up at any time if those pictures and such did save, but even so, the title of playtester did sound cool. -

"Do you remember what you promised me last time you were here?" He asked, cutting straight to the chase. He was normally one for formalities and niceties, but the questions had been eating him up since P03 had been there. He felt butterflies gnawing at him from inside as he spoke.
P03 nods, keeping it's back turned. His face heat up.
"Yeah, 'course I do. Shit's been bugging me since I woke up." He started, before turning to Leshy, an obvious blue tinge on it's face. "Well, what... What are you?" It asked, realizing how dumb it probably sounded to the Beast.
Leshy seemed a bit taken aback by the forwardness of the question, but not surprised.
"My species?" He asked, P03 nodded.

Post-Transcendence, P03 is giving itself a figurative pat on the back. He won, the game was still very much alive (and available on Steam for a paltry $19.99!) and the whole death thing had only been temporary. Overall, he thought he'd done pretty fricking good.
Magnificus, evidently, had a different perspective. He didn't think everything was "all good," and he needed someone to blame. And, apparently, he blamed P03.
