Summary
Tal’iel (Tally) was not born; she was made. Forged by the Mother as her blade, she exists as a Sentinel to uphold the balance of the universe and carry out the Mother's will. When she is assigned to guard a young witch named Sarah Alder, it is meant to be another duty carried out from the shadows. Through Sarah, witchkind will be propelled into a new era, and Tal’iel will ensure she survives long enough to fulfill that fate.
For decades, Tal’iel watches, protects, and guides without ever being seen. Until she breaks the one rule that matters. She chooses love over the balance she was created to protect, turning her back on the very purpose that defines her.

So, when young Tally Craven forms a begrudging alliance with one Nicte Batan, terrorist and founder of The Spree, will Tally stay loyal to Alder? Or will she defect to a darker path.
Things are changing in Fort Salem, between the General Staff and Cadets as well as the greater apparatus around them. Who will find themselves caught in the crossfire. And will a little upheaval be just what is called for?
