"Certo che sei proprio strana, Elizabeth. Poco meno di un'ora fa mi hai salutato dandomi un bacio sulla guancia e adesso sembri... impacciata. Ti faccio davvero questo effetto?" chiese lui, con la voce bassa e ancora più suadente.
Lei strinse le labbra e si morse le guance, accettando silenziosamente quella gara di sguardi a cui lui aveva dato inizio.

I wrote them down here because, well... if I didn't, they'd vanish quickly like a wave of the sea does. One moment they're right in front of you, and then they're gone, tucked somewhere in the past where you can't reach them anymore. Maybe putting them here doesn't save anything, not really. But it lets me look at them for a little longer.
All I can do is catch them for a moment - the light, the voices, the way the city feels when it breathes - and leave them on these pages.

Comparten la comida, buscan constantemente la cercanía del otro y se cuidan mutuamente. Se rozan, se acicalan y permanecen juntos incluso cuando el camino se vuelve difícil. Si uno se queda atrás, el otro reduce el paso; si uno sufre, el otro permanece a su lado.
Volg siempre había encontrado algo hermoso en esa clase de devoción. Y quizás por eso había decidido quedarse a lado de Ippo.
Porque cada vez que veía una porción más grande en su plato, quería ofrecérsela. Porque las pequeñas victorias parecían más importantes cuando podía compartirlas con él. Porque su mirada siempre terminaba buscándolo entre la multitud, como si encontrarlo le permitiera respirar con más facilidad.
Para Volg, Ippo era mucho más que un rival o un amigo querido. Era la calidez que esperaba al final de los días difíciles, la sonrisa que hacía que todo pareciera un poco más sencillo.

Riassunto: Ryo Saeba, poliziotto di Shinjuku, per non essere inquisito dagli Affari Interni a causa di un'accusa di abuso di potere durante un interrogatorio di un testimone, viene mandato a lavorare a New York nella squadra di Polizia "sezione Omicidi" di Hideyuki Makimura dove troverà anche Kaori (ex agente del FBI dei Profilers che cacciano i serial killer) che ora lavora con suo fratello dopo il rapimento della figlia Maiko, avuta con l'ex marito Michael Angel, un avvocato di successo senza scrupoli. Nella squadra di Hideyuki lavorano tutti gli altri personaggi, compreso Hayato Ijuin, vecchia conoscenza di Ryo dai tempi della guerra in Messico. Liberamente ispirato ai miei telefilm americani polizieschi preferiti... non li cito tutti ma, sicuramente, chi è appassionato del genere, intuisce subito di cosa si tratta. *** Buona lettura.
