Gale flusters. “Open invitation,” he coughs awkwardly. “No innuendo.”
“Gale has better places to sheathe his quarterstaff,” Astarion says. “He's made that very clear.”
“Very funny, Astarion,” Gale says, only lightly amused.
“You mean you two aren't having sex?” Karlach says.
“Not yet,” Gale says, with a single finger raised and a cute little bounce.
Karlach snorts. Astarion grins a wicked grin.
The life drains from Gale's face.
“I mean,” Gale says. “We aren't an item, or any other form of coupling, now or — I could be convinced, I think. In time. If Astarion,” Gale looks to him, desperate, pleading to be saved.
“No please,” Astarion says. “Go on. If Astarion?”
“If I don't dimension door myself into the sea within the next thirty seconds,” Gale says with a laugh. His face is flushed but he doesn't hide it. He owns the blunder.
“Yes,” Astarion says. “I think I will accompany you home, dove.”
“Gods,” Gale laughs, rubbing a hand down his face.

Astarion frowns. “You don't feel anything?”
“I feel metal,” Karlach says. “And a slight tingle maybe, but that might be the four mugs of coffee I downed this morning.”
Astarion leans closer to peer at the amulet. “Can't you hear it talking, though?”
Karlach taps the gem with her knuckle. “Helloooo? Mister Necklace?”
Astarion laughs to ease his own nerves. Nasty habit. He wouldn't want the woman going and thinking she's actually funny.

It's a tale as old as time - a classic trope: boy meets boy. Boy tells boy that he's straight (lie), but they should still kiss, like, for fun. And the other boy, also straight (truth), is like "sure, I guess, if you want". So they kiss a lot, and they do other stuff, and Boy 1 (really should have labeled those at the start) develops an insanely codependent relationship with Boy 2 and 'solves' a bunch of their issues by painting over them with a shiny coat of jujutsu. But it's fine, or it was going to be fine - until it really really wasn't fine and Boy A - wait - Boy 1 - had a panic attack and fled the country because of how un-fine he was.
But he's fine now. Like, for real this time. Mostly fine. Somewhat fine.
Oh, and there's a also 1000 year old sorcerer on the loose trying to reincarnate Ryomen Sukuna, King of Curses, and then probably take over the world or some shit. But that's not really a fanfiction trope, so Satoru doesn't bother to put it in the tags.

Daniel wants to roll his eyes. He does, making sure to let Armand know about his opinion on that thought. He half expects something bad to happen, like maybe Armand throwing him against a wall again. He fears he's overstepped a little but he knows he won't be killed yet, not when Louis and Armand's relationship is still so fragile, barely hanging on by a thread. As much as Louis says he's forgiven Armand, in the light of events revealed during the interview he might actually reconsider that stance.
…and then Daniel is brought back by the sight of Armand in front of him. He hadn't even sensed the other move - not that he could with his senses dulled by the drugs prolonging his life - but now he sees a face framed by pretty curls drop low between his legs. Armand's touch on his knee feels like fire through the fabric of his pants when the vampire spreads his legs.
