Summary
Isla Hansley is a vet. She loves her job and everything that comes with it. She likes taking care of animals and giving them a second chance at life.
Xander Sloan is the owner of a cybersecurity company. One night, while driving home, he sees a deer that has been hit badly in the middle of the road, so he takes it straight to the nearest veterinary clinic. Isla is the one who takes over to help the deer. Xander watches her the entire time. She stays in his mind after that night, and he finds himself thinking about her more than he should. He keeps finding excuses to see her again.
After a while, Isla begins to notice strange things. Letters she did not expect. Messages with no clear source. A feeling that someone has been watching her when she leaves the clinic at night. At first, she ignores it, but it keeps happening, and eventually she starts feeling unsafe. She starts seeing Xander as someone she can trust and decides to confide in him. He becomes her safe place in a situation she feels she cannot escape.
But if Xander is the one keeping her safe, then who has been watching her all along?
