Summary
Jildou, a Frisian woman stranded in America, is forced to navigate survival in a foreign country where trust is scarce and danger lurks everywhere. Through sheer chance she crosses paths with Merle Dixon, a meeting that ultimately leads her to Rick’s group at the quarry camp. Quiet, wary, and deeply guarded, she struggles to integrate, holding her past and identity close while assessing whether she can truly rely on these strangers. But it is the other Dixon who keeps her feeling like an outsider, no matter how hard she tries to settle in.
