Summary
My family were heading to the Mother's Gate when we were attacked. I was the only one who survived.
Jade grew up believing this story, told to her as far back as she could remember. Her first great constant in life was Tir Asleen, the kingdom that saved her, the haven of her parents' hopes, and the place that gave her a shot at a life that was more than just survival.
This is a story about what happens when a girl tries to build herself on those foundations, and about what parts of herself will stay standing after all the truth comes out.
But, because the other great constant of Jade's life has always been Kit the-menace-of-Tir-Asleen Tanthalos, this story is ALSO about five times that Kit made Jade blush on their journey from best friends to lovers, and the one time Jade finally got her back.
