Eddie rounds the corner, and sure enough, lying on the hardwood is Buck, forearm draped quite cinematically across his forehead in an Oh, Woe is Me imitation. His ungainly limbs are sprawled all across the floor—an aggrieved starfish.
He looks up at Eddie from beneath furrowed brows. “I’ve been wounded,” he grumbles.
“Oh, my God, Buck.” Eddie’s instantly on his knees. He’s pretty sure something pops on his way down. “What happened? Where does it hurt? Talk to me.” The line of questioning might be overkill, but he’s gathering clues.
His eyes dart around the space and take stock of their surroundings, trying to ascertain the source of the injury. He spies a faint red spot on the dining room’s doorjamb. About four feet below it is Theo. One fist is pressed guiltily over the toddler’s mouth, and his bottom lip wobbles perilously. He’s twisting the toe of one of his Paw Patrol sneakers into the other.

Summary
Driver/Ryland Grace. adjacent to the coltlandgentry stuff.
Driver leaves LA after the events of Drive(2011), emotionally and physically bleeding from wounds he wasn’t sure he would survive. He is as lucky as Shannon was unlucky, however, in that he is on a collision course with the Grace family.
Colt saved him from bleeding out on the side of the road, and Driver finds himself in San Francisco with no plans in place for his future. In SF he becomes neighbors with Ryland Grace, who catches his curiosity.

Two broken stars in a decaying orbit, passing closer and closer together until the inevitable, devastating collision.
Or, Tav is fucked up and down bad for Astarion, who doesn't quite see the appeal (but he's getting there). Sexual frustration, sloppy handjobs, a heavy dose of masochism, and way too many failed Insight checks ahead. Tav falls first, Astarion falls harder (eventually).
Or, a tragic-but-hopeful romance told through a series of incredibly ill-advised sexual encounters.
If you want to read a story where Astarion is sweet from the start and Tav is here to fix him, this isn't the one. If you want to read about two terribly broken men spending a good long while making each other worse before they make each other better, this might be for you. If you thought the in-game romance was a little too easy and it should have been ten times more painful and difficult to convince Astarion he's worthy of love, this is definitely for you.
Set during the canonical events of Baldur's Gate 3.

genuinely one of the best things i've ever read!!!! i really love and hate (in a good way) how i was constantly on my toes!! everytime i thought i had an inkling of what could happen, the opposite did. this has been an absolute whirlwind of pain, humour and softness icl. i've never gone from bawling my eyes out to giggling like a madman to crying again to grinning in such a short amount of time

he's the chosen of lathander
he swore an oath to astarion
he was a double-oath paladin
then he was a double oathbreaker
then he was a chosen of lathander for like 5 minutes
then it's, oh you know how tav had some unhealthy coping mechanisms in his past and a lover?? yeah turns out that's a bhaalspawn. not just a bhaalspawn but the bhaalspawn. the dark urge.
oh yeah and he's also an angel, specifically lathander's angel but dw about it
oh and zariel's his sister???? but we don't have to get into all that rn
i cannot understate the amount of times i had to take a 5 minute walk after each of these revelations because what the actual fuck bro thats insane
the only predictable thing that happened in this story was tav dying millions of times
also astarion stealing tav under the gods' noses was the BEST
i love the way the author writes in general because it's so visceral i genuinely feel transported into the story, feeling the same things as the characters
also the like 2 chapters from DU were soooo good!! i get why people hate 2nd person but hard agree that it fits DU - it really shows the disconnect from their body/mind and illustrates their pure and utter confusion and fear at their situation
