Summary
Directly after the events of Empire of Stone, Drift and Ratchet are left with the quiet aftermath of battle. Drift is left wondering why Ratchet came for him, and even more thankful than he knows.
After they make it back to Ratchet's ship in a comfortable silence, Ratchet sits Drift down to make repairs long overdo. And well, some words are overdue too.

He might be even better at deflecting and avoiding emotional conversations than Drift is, keeping his wounded spark hidden behind layers of acerbic wit. So it's odd that Ratchet is being open about his feelings now. Something had changed since Drift was exiled, and Ratchet is getting dangerously close to bulldozing his way right through all of Drift’s carefully constructed walls.
