The hotel lobby smelled like burnt coffee and industrial cleaner. Jason Todd stood at the front desk, arms crossed, glaring at the night clerk like the man had personally offended every ancestor he’d ever had.
“One bed?” Jason repeated, voice flat.
The clerk shrugged, clearly past caring. “Conference in town. We’re booked solid. Only room left is the king suite. Sorry, kid.”
Tim Drake hovered a few steps behind, duffel bag slung over one shoulder, looking like he wanted the floor to swallow him whole. His cheeks were already faintly pink. “It’s fine,” he muttered. “We’ve shared worse.”

You obviously wouldn’t think so by looking at him, but Jason’s sensitive. One overly mean joke can hide and fester in his mind for days, until he has enough and asks Tim, point blank, what he meant by that, generally with a scowl and crossed arms. He reads into things, like the people around him—Tim, Dick, Bruce—have some kind of coded language they use just to show how much they don’t want him around.

Summary
Bart doesn’t know what exactly he’s done to deserve this kind of attention, but he’s not complaining. Tim’s singular focus is a heady thing, enough to make him flush and squirm and avoid eye contact.
At some point he will have to stop to eat and hydrate, sleep like the dead before regaining his usual tirelessness. But he also knows that Tim knows that, and he trusts Tim to know his limits, to know when to stop and how to take care of him, so he lets that thought go, unworried about his own limitations.
It just feels so damn good.

They had woken up nuzzled snuggly together, exchanging soft-spoken words that hummed comfortably in the quiet room. A few cars had passed from time to time, a couple of birds had sung cheerfully outside, filling in the little spaces between their hushed conversation (little bouts of silence that would engulf the lazy air of the early morning). When the Sun had begun shining a little brighter through their blinds and the want for food had become a more craved affair than a distant thought, they had stumbled out of there sheets, as gracefully as their waking bodies would allow them, and had headed to the kitchen.
That had been thirty minutes ago.
Now, Dick had his face shoved against the cold marble of the counter, his naked torso flush against the hard surface; his sweatpants were pulled down, along with his underwear, unceremoniously bunched around his trembling feet, tiptoeing uncomfortably to adjust his height to the workstation; and his hands fumbled uselessly to find a grip on the smooth expanse of the counter, his fingers curling and uncurling without rhythm as he fought to keep himself upright and steady.
