Ada had been practicing on an early Saturday morning, all elegance and grace, humming the tune she would be skating to under her breath. The tranquility she’d created was abruptly shattered; the clattering of an object hitting the ground and skittering down the steps in the stands, frantic footsteps following. Ada looked up, stopping in the middle of her practice.
A flustered boy, bulky with hockey gear, looking very awkward, was chasing his hockey stick, wincing when it hit the plastic protection separating the seats and the rink. He fumbled to pick it up, eyes flickering to Ada and away again, an embarrassed flush adorning his cheeks, when he realised she’d been watching him.
Or, Leon and Ada on making time for one another.
