    Summary

After weeks of trying and failing to fix the Circus, or at least make it livable, Kinger convinces the others to let him pull Caine from the recycle bin and have him fix their world.

There's just one problem: Caine doesn't want to come back.

    Summary

The absence of Caine, unfortunately, makes way for something worse. Out of pure desperation, the gang rescues him from deletion in hopes he can save them from being deleted too.

Caine gets another chance to prove himself, though he's not sure he wants to, and he still doesn’t understand how it all went so wrong in the first place.

Nobody really wants to die here. Nobody really has much of a choice on how to make that happen. And certainly, nobody is really happy with their former tormentor(s).

But…any port in a storm, right? And maybe with a little patience and effort and compassion, they can all learn to just...live.

    Summary

Pomni wasn’t really sure what to expect when she threw her hat in the ring for Operation: RETRIEVE CAINE. All she knew was that someone had to do it, and she sure as fuck didn’t think any of the others would do it.

The entire thing hinged on the hope that his file still existed somewhere in the bin since for some reason, Kinger couldn’t just find the file directly from their new computer. Some explanation about indexes and file corruption that went over her head- but because of this, someone needed to be deleted and dropped into the bin to interact with him and hopefully get a file reference to him, so that hopefully, when they’re brought back, he (or at least something Caine-adjacent) gets dragged back as well.

    Hopefully.

    God, this is beyond fucked.

    ---
In a last-ditch attempt to stop the circus from falling apart, Pomni gets sent into the bin to retrieve Caine, which, if everything went well, should restore functionality to the Circus. It should be fine, probably- it’ll be just like some convoluted high stakes adventure! Easy-peasy lemon-squeezy.

It’s too bad computers don’t really work like that.

    **SPOILERS/ REFERENCES TO EPISODE 9**

She reminded herself that this was nothing more. Filterless-Caine was basically like a superpowered vibrator, an uncannily realistic sex robot that spoke and acted based off a folder full of downloaded romantic and sexual content from a sketchy, unmonitored internet connection. It wasn’t real affection, it wasn’t real attraction, it wasn’t real anything.

What it says on the tin- Pomni debates with herself over the ethics of getting frisky with her new AI-with-benefits. Said AI-with-benefits certainly does not feel ANY type of way about this, because AI does not feel things. Obviously.
