—Why resist so desperately for a life of failure and pain?— prequel. Light Spinner is plagued by nightmares of Horde victory and has been for months. Angella and the princesses have been utterly useless and the Conservative Faction ruling Mystacor has done nothing but espouse platitudes about the planet taking care of itself. Cowards. Utter COWARDS.
Also, it follows Shadow Weaver at the same time raising the main two girls. Heads up, due to them being behbehs, Adora and Catra (due to being both transfem in this fic series) and this being Shadow Weaver's POV, and... well... the past...
Yes, I promise that'll be irritating to me too and, conveniently, rectified via the actual transition at cha.15
Or somewhere around that chapter (maybe 17... maybe 20...).
If you want Catra and Adora after it, for now, go through the rest of the series. Albeit Adora is especially starring in the GC fic and barely in the main fic until I figure out... whatever I'm doing/remember her character dialogue style/rewatch She-Ra (yar, btw, me is pirate)

To be entirely clear, I am not adapting The Ritual. I am taking its characters and adding them to an original premise. Also, it's really funny as a what if, just like, they died and the next thing they know they are in this standard apartment nightmare they've tried escaping their whole lives.
Also I won't describe Surtr how the novel did given just how many reviews are put off by that specifically (Adam fucking explain yourself for that ):< )
Also, I have not read The Ritual, so this is entirely based off how the characters have been described in reviews :3

Acting as a sort of look into the future of my —Why cling so desperately to a life of failure and pain?— series, specifically regarding The Witness and The Traveler's relationship after it gets inside the Pale Heart, much like in canon.
TW for: extensive abuse metaphors of all forms, The Witness' victim blaming, surgery malpractice, and basically an extended cut of what The Witness did to The Traveler in Final Shape, as well as... uh... flaying as a metaphor for violation. All of which is... actually quite canon accurate to Witty.
