“What was what?” Knight Sei asked.
“That part about being trapped in the caves forever. Why did you say it like that?”
Knight Sei flicked a quick glance at their watching audience, and said, still smiling, “Well, the waterfall will freeze once the sun is no longer hitting the crystal above us. So they need to be quick about finding their kyber, or they’ll be stuck on the other side of the ice.”
“I’m sorry,” Mace said. “Why would you tell them this?”
“Knight Sei’s smile became a little fixed. “It’s standard policy, Master Windu.”
“What is? Scaring kids?”
Or: Mace realizes that raising the first child doesn’t mean you are in any way prepared for the second one.

Crouched on the edge of the roof as he was, he observed the streets below him silently. He was coming to the end of his patrol, and if everything remained as it was, he'd be able to catch a decent nap before having to report in to the school for another round of proctoring.
Which, of course, is when he saw the kid being chased down the alley.

Being sucked through a time-traveling portal and dropped in the middle of a fantasy world with supervillains was not his idea for a good start to the new school year. Good thing he has everyone's favorite underground hero keeping an eye on him. With a hero by his side, how much trouble could he possibly get into while trying to find his way back home?

Bookmarker's Notes
This is so fun! It's neat to see an Izuku who is a little less meshed into the Hero Culture, and so looks at things with a bit more of a critical eye. Also, he actually sometimes goes to adults for help!
(In case I need the reminder later: In this story, Izuku chucked drinks at Endeavor, listened to Shoto's tragic backstory, and explained why he took up martial arts ALL WHILE WEARING CHECKERED FACE PAINT AND A PURPLE SHIRT WITH SHINSOU'S BLOWN UP FACE ON IT. What a legend.)

“What are you talking about?” Grace's fingers played quick chords as he spoke. He didn’t even look as he did it, but it did not make them any less purposeful.
“Discussing possible reasons why Tau Ceti is not infected while other stars are,” Eva replied deftly. “I would invite you to join, but we were just finishing—”
“Oh, that’s easy.” His hand twisted a knob, and the notes came out sharper. “It is infected—Petrova Line and everything.”
In Grace's opinion, dreaming about time traveling is no excuse for getting out of practice with his Eridian. To the rest of the Petrova Taskforce, it seems a bit odd that their resident Astrophage expert has suddenly taken to carrying a keyboard around and playing it whenever he speaks. Eva Stratt resolves to figure out what is going on.

Sometimes, when Rocky is sleeping, Grace can’t help but wonder what would have happened if Rocky hadn’t been here. It’s not a fun reality to ponder. While part of him gives a weak assurance that he would have figured something out, he knows that isn’t true. Because Rocky is his reason to figure something out.
Then his mind flips the script. What if Grace had never shown up? Rocky would have been out here, alone. A single Eridian on a big ship, with no one to watch him sleep.
And just when he’s about to sooth his mind with the fact that neither of those things came to pass, a new scenario sprouts unbidden from his mind. What if someone else arrives after Rocky and him leave?
What if they get here, and they’re all alone.
