Summary
Everyone is born with a number visible on a random body part, a number that only exists twice—on yourself and on your soul mate.
Tony, famous from birth, was brought up to always hide his number from everyone around him in order to protect both himself and his soul mate from kidnapping and extortion. Clint, meanwhile, had his number obliterated by an accident when he was young and now only has only his own memory to rely on, having no records of his number from before.

He heard her sigh and expected her to walk away. Instead, he suddenly had a Red Room assassin on his back, arms and legs wrapped around him in a full-body grip. He grunted and pitched forward, grabbing onto the edge of the kitchen island for stability. "What are the hell are you doing?" he demanded, turning his head and staring at her in disbelief.
"Hugging you," said Yelena. "Like we do when Bob says that he always makes things worse."
"I'm not gonna turn into the Void," John huffed, struggling to shrug her off.
"No, but you are talking shit about yourself and I don't like that." Yelena clung to him even more stubbornly. "None of us should be doing that anymore."
John leaned both elbows on the counter and sighed. "So... what, you're just gonna jump on me if I start talking about what a fuckup I am?"
"Yes." Yelena did not smile, but her eyes glittered with mirth. "And I will tell everyone else to do that, too. It's a new house rule."

Wade had never considered himself an ‘open book’ type. As much as he was a walking chatterbox with no off button, he wasn’t the kind of guy who would overshare anything that mattered. There were many things he held close and firm to his chest, things that he couldn’t imagine anyone else knowing. Things that, if placed in the wrong person’s hands, could easily leave him heartbroken and alone. He knew damn well what that would feel like if he let his guard down.
Now, there was just one problem about this; that problem happened to be a comic-accurate five-foot-three-inches mini Hugh Jackman with steak knives between his knuckles that somehow, against God’s will, managed to read Wade like he was a collection of children’s nursery rhymes. Logan knew him, saw him, and it was the most terrifying and painful thing Wade had ever faced in his life.

It started in the morning meeting for next year’s budget allocation for strike teams. The numbers on the page in front him grew a little more distant, a little shinier around the edges. He blinked, but it stayed, the letters seeming to shrink. By the time Dinesh got to his favorite hobby horse of Delta’s R&D costs, the shimmer started, low in his right eye, a minor distortion; Phil would have to wait to see how bad this one was going to be. There was no rhyme nor reason to why some migraines fizzled out and others knocked him on his ass.
Not that it mattered anyway; he had too much on his calendar to let a little thing like his head being drilled and flayed open to stop him from getting it done.
