Summary
The ending of CSM part II made me create an AO3 account. Wanted to do an alt-ending, ended up with a complete rewrite of CSM part II. The rewrite focuses on the love story between Asa and Denji, treading a lot of ground differently from the manga, fleshing out the characters and the world a bit more. The story attempts to tread the spiritual way of the original, with the comedic blending into the horrific.
Asa Mitaka is a misanthropic high schooler from Tokyo. Growing up with nobody to rely on, she felt like the world hated her... And the feeling was mutual. One night she dies in a bloody accident, but instead of oblivion, a powerful devil offers her a second chance at life. But, like everything nice in this world, it comes at a cost: Asa has to spend her new life hunting down the Chainsaw Man.
Denji is a young man living his teens to the fullest, fullfilling his earthly wishes. But underneath the laid-back facade hide years of pent-up trauma, that he so desperately tries to escape. Luckily, when he puts on the mask of the Chainsaw Man, everyone sees him as a hero.Two lonely souls wander this broken world, unaware that their fates are about to intertwine.
