Carter pointed into a tree whose branches hung directly over their current position. O'Neill automatically shuffled sideways so anything falling - or dropping - from them wouldn't land smack-bang on top of his head. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Teal'c doing likewise, though Carter remained where she was, staring fixedly upwards. The joyous grin on her face caused something in O'Neill's chest to constrict. He decided to put that down to enthusiasm being a scientifically proven contagion.

Summary
Season 2 of the show, written for my vampire AU. Certain parts will be kept as close to canon as I'm able, others will be completely changed. There's an internal journey of discovery happening here for Young, but the road is sure as hell going to be bumpy along the way!
They had all been taught certain things about the Tau'ri: how officers controlled themselves, how they were trained to not allow anger to dictate their actions. The Tau'ri hadn't been slaves to the Goa'uld so there was no way they understood true anger, only something they had slapped the label onto in a feeble attempt to reconcile their actions with a society obsessed with peace and weakness and being wilfully blind.
They had not reckoned for him.

Summary
Sheppard's never spoken about how he feels about sex without anyone. In fact, he's spent his entire life trying to pretend he's no different from the man standing next to him. But surely as that man is now Rodney McKay, Sheppard would be safe opening up, just a little?
Sheppard's people skills weren't as bad as he made them out to be. A childhood growing up amongst the financial elite had taught him not only the importance of being able to both read and manipulate a room, but also the skill to disguise his ability to do so and the fortitude to lull those around him into a false sense of security.
So he allowed those around him to believe he was an average arrogant Air Force officer - Afghanistan - a withdrawn PTSD-ridden introvert - Antarctica - and, since arriving on Atlantis, a flyboy with a Kirk complex.
He excelled at becoming what those around him assumed him to be. Do not usurp expectations. Do not stand out from the crowd. Do not draw people's scrutiny.

A fire-rimmed starship looms overhead like a coronet. Like the rind of a war drum. 3) A divided crew sails a jeweled vessel into a perilous quantum breakwater.
