“You didn’t tell me about the burn,” Geralt says, his mouth a thin line.
“You didn’t ask.” Jaskier says, laying both hands flat over the strings, looking at Geralt challengingly.
“Usually don’t have to.”
“Maybe I got tired of our one sided friendship,” Jaskier says before he can stop himself. Fuck, that is not how he meant to say that.
By the looks of it, Geralt doesn’t take it too well either.
He stands up, staring at Jaskier as if he grew a second head.
“Tired?” He says, hands clenching and unclenching against his sides.
“When was the last time you called me your friend, Geralt?” Jaskier says, starting to get agitated. “When was the last time you asked me something, something that didn’t directly relate to Yennefer, Ciri, or you needing me to do something? When was the last time you apologized, for anything you have said to me?”OR; Jaskier still helps Geralt, still goes to Kaer Morhen, but Geralt has still to act like or say that Jaskier is his friend.

Or, 5 times Steve tells Danny he’s in love with him, and 1 time Danny says it back.
The first time Steve’d said "I love you" to Danny, they’d been trapped under layers of collapsed concrete. And while the sentiment was definitely mutual, Danny had to struggle to say the words back, could only say them when they were safe above ground and he’d had a second wind from the wave of relief that had crashed over him at being alive.
In the intervening years, Steve had kept saying "I love you," and Danny’d kept saying "I love you, too." Sometimes it was teasing and light, just part of their banter. Sometimes it was solid and heavy and felt like the foundation of a giant skyscraper.
But Steve'd never said "I'm IN love with you." That is, until now.

“Yea?” Danny turned his head just enough to move his mouth off of Steve’s shoulder so that he could be understood. “What are you thinking about now?” When he heard no answer and felt the body of his partner tense in his grip, Danny pulled back a little to meet Steve’s gaze. Once he had it, he held onto it, cerulean blue meeting slate gray – Steve’s eyes always grayed when he was troubled, Danny noticed. His fingers were still resting at McGarrett’s sides and they drew lazy patterns against the cloth of his shirt as he waited patiently.

Danny has been shooting him I’m going to attempt to make you talk, just you wait glances all day, so it’s not much of a surprise when there’s a knock at Steve’s door an hour after he gets home. In other ways, it’s a huge surprise. “Since when do you knock?” he asks Danny, who’s standing in front of him, still in the same clothes he wore at work and carrying a six-pack of Longboards.
Danny seems very convinced Steve has something to say. Steve is not entirely sure why (except for all the ways in which he is).

Sometimes he does. On those mornings, he tries to ignore the spike in his heartrate and the rising hard feeling in the pit of his stomach, like someone is squeezing his insides too tight, and he gets up as he normally would.
