Summary
What if Steve Rogers never became Captain America? What if Zola strapped Bucky to that table in Kreischberg and no one came? The Second Labor explores what might have been if Bucky became a version of the Soldier much earlier. It also explores an alternative timeline for Steve where he finds his way into the war effort in a slightly different fashion.
A fic that is one part alt history and one part epistolary, The Second Labor features an established relationship, found family on the battlefield, letters, more historical research than the author probably ever needed to do, and the idea that love—from our partners, from our family, and from our friends—is a force more powerful than anything its enemies can possibly create.
