Summary
It's been almost thirty-five years since there was any sign of merfolk in the waters around Los Angeles. So when a podless merman appears to frequent the coastline, the city is overjoyed and equally protective of their new resident fish. Now his new research team and the handful of particularly involved locals need to play their parts in figuring out who brought him so far from his own waters, and how. All of this, of course, while ensuring Casey continues to live well out of captivity.
Casey spent the vast majority of his life in a small tank with a bad pump in a world he was never able to fully understand. Now he has an entire coastline to himself, and more than enough time to figure out how to entertain himself- which may or may not include the passtime of sinking older ships and ripping them to shreds to figure out how they work. If he happens to accidentally cover up the mystery of his presence in the meantime? That's none of his business.

He thought that he felt things towards Zandik, he really did. He thought that he trusted him, thought that he liked him, and yet for some reason, at this moment, all he feels is this numb yet tingling feeling in his hands and cheeks, like ice is being actively injected into him.
“What are you doing?” he asks, to Zandik, who has pushed him down on his own bed. There’s a strange, animalistic glint in Zandik’s eyes, and Scaramouche doesn’t recognize his face as he replies.
“What does it look like?”
Or, in which Scaramouche is raped by the only person he could call a friend.
