There was no seat for Daniel next year, and then the news broke that he was going back to Red Bull—going back home—and there wasn’t at all anything that could quell his irrational annoyance, the old jealousy of knowing that before anything, before Netflix and the pandemic and the world changing, it was Max and Daniel.
But right now, Lando tries to not think about all of that because it’s nearly four in the morning and Daniel Ricciardo is in his hotel room, sprawled and sleepy on his bed, and Lando wants to kiss him.

Steve rolls his eyes and immediately deflects. “How about you, man?” he forces himself to ask, not sure why he really doesn't want to know the answer. “Any dates lately?”
Danny scoffs and waves one hand dismissively. “As if I have time for that. While you’re trying to save the citizens of Oahu, I’m too busy trying to save Oahu from you.”
Steve wonders for a second why that answer relaxes him—why it eases the tight knot in his gut—but before he can think about it too hard, their phones are ringing, Chin is on speakerphone reading out an address, and Steve is pulling a sharp u-turn and speeding toward a crime scene.
