Summary
“Let’s bet,” Walburga said, wand firm in her grip.
Orion glanced up, amusement already forming. “Like when we were kids?”
She smiled thinly. “Something like that. Only properly this time. A points system. You’ll be black. I’ll be green.”
“And what are we counting?”
“The children’s favourite...In one week Sirius leaves for Hogwarts,” she said briskly. “That week decides it. Whoever has the most diamonds wins.”
Orion laughed, low and incredulous. “You do realise this is exactly what we promised we wouldn’t do.”
“That,” Walburga replied, extending her hand, “was before we had children"
He took it without hesitation. “Deal.”
The diamonds stirred, magic sealing the wager.
They had sworn not to repeat the cycle.
Instead, they turned it into a game. And heaven help the children.
OR: One week before Sirius leaves for Hogwarts, Walburga and Orion make a wager to determine which of them is the favourite parent. Truly, there is nothing the Blacks love more than inventing elaborate distractions to avoid discussing their emotions.

Summary
"Hope ain't ever foolish," Eggsy said.
The seriousness in his expression as he said it made him look old. It made him look like something else- and Harry wondered why exactly hope was so important to him. Perhaps, Harry thought, it wasn’t good intentions that the road to hell was paved with but hope. After all, hope was why Harry was here, clinging desperately to the notion that he might not have to play the terrible hand he had been dealt after all. That a miracle- or in this case something significantly less holy- would come along and make everything all right. Harry knew perfectly well that the world didn’t work like that.
Except maybe it did, because Eggsy’s lips pulled up into a now-familiar smirk and he said, “I’m gonna fix all this up nice for you, Harry. You'll see.”
Harry Hart just sold his soul to a demon in a snapback.

Summary
One of Alastor's lesser known personality quirks? He liked to fidget.
Oh, he'd deny it if anybody said anything about it, would claim he wasn't some unruly schoolboy unable to sit still while the teacher gave her lesson – but it was true. Vox had spent long enough with him to know just how true it was, and it was honestly a little endearing.
Sometimes.
