Summary
Given the sheer wealth of knowledge at Byrgenwerth, attendance was not a simple matter. Without money or a meaningful name, the best route in would be a scholarship of some sort. A working scholarship, in all its rarity, could even grant access to working on artifacts from old civilizations nearly lost in the long war.
Such a method is befitting a Hunter, given the rarity of the name in central Yharnam, and a Hunter is always in want of more. In particular, the want of a bout with the saber lessons’ fair lady.

Summary
It’s a downright demeaning way to live, she inherently knows this. Alicent used to think one day she would let the guilt get the best of her and end this thing between them before it even really got started, but she’s come to realize over the last few months how weak she is.
It makes her feel dizzy to realize how afraid she is, and how despite that fear, she does it anyway. Gives in time and time again, like Rhaenyra is not a spoiled brat and instead some undeniable force of nature.
(Or, where time and time again Rhaenyra proves she is far from being scrupulous to get what she wants, and time and time again Alicent proves she can’t deny what she undeniably wants.)

Applause broke out amid the Court, and Rhaenyra smiled at her. A full, unguarded smile. Alicent did duck her head then, her face redder than the Keep, but her father did not notice this time.
