Click.A faint mechanical whirr. A slight stutter of static. Then, the feed kicks in—blurry at first, then clearer. The frame jitters with movement.
“Is it on?”
Tap. Tap.
“Did it work? Hello? Hellooo—oh! Oh, it’s working!”
A young, excited voice, tinged with mechanical undertones: subtle clicks and low shutter-whirrs riding beneath every syllable. The view swings wildly before settling on a dim interior—homey, metal-paneled walls, a low-hanging vine of bioluminescent Protector Root glowing faintly in the corner.
“Keph? Is everything alright?” his mother called from somewhere off-screen, her tone edged with worry—a sharp contrast to the sheer delight blooming in Keph’s chest.
He could feel the new system stirring to life within him.

Summary
Dan never got out much. He was a less than average man who streamed as a job and rarely left his post. Day in and day out, he’d give into the safety net and ignore the outside world and its demands. But now, he’s thrust into the real world where he’s forced to find the true meaning to life outside the views of social media.
Lyle never got out much. He was a less than average man who worked a job and mainly focused on his hobby. For years, he’d give into his urges for comfort and reasons to keep living. But now, he’s thrust into a horrifying reality where consequences finally arise so now there’s much more to hide and even more to atone for.
What should’ve been two grueling weeks where the two should hold nothing but disdain or amusement for each other isn’t so. A chain reaction of events forces the two to work together for better and worse and ultimately changes the outcome of the whole group’s trials and tribulations.

Warnings for body horror (shit gets real by chapter 3) and paranoid tendencies, kind of the stuff to be expected in a story about a guy turning into telescopes i guess

Joining a group which combined both those things was a jarring experience! The end of the world can't truly be real though, can it? He's not even allowed to look at this supposed Visitor, for god's (or is it Visitor's now?) sake!
Sam had left already, and anyways, it's not like this stuff was real...
