Which is why, he thinks bleakly, it’s utterly fucking typical that as they’re investigating something weird and probably janky some civilian called in over on Rockaway Beach, Sam looks away one minute and when he looks back, Bucky is a tentacle monster.
“Uh,” Sam says. “Dude. You.”

“You’re rambling, Parker,” he says, bemused with a reluctant smile.
“Right, sorry.” She takes a big breath, and then he can tell she’s trying to make it as short and sweet as possible. “May walked in on me in the suit after you dropped it off tonight and she spent an hour screaming and now she’s demanding to be able to scream at you, and yes I’m stronger physically, but mentally and emotionally, as she’s the only mother I have ever known, I am one thousand percent incapable of stopping her.”
Tony takes a second to digest this.
“You’re calling to warn me that your aunt wants to come and yell at me?”
“Uh, yeah.”
“I’m sorry,” Pepper says, raising an eyebrow, “did I just hear you correctly?”
