The thing wakes up, eyes glazed over, a hazy white. It blinks a few times at him, and its eyes flick down to the weapon in Albert’s hand and then back up to him. He’s skinny, all ribs under a thin tee shirt. His dusty hair is long and in his eyes and his body is covered with thin scars. Not the worst it could be, given what they do to people here."Are you going to slice me up?" He croaks, a wry smile on his face.
So it speaks. Albert is never that expectant either way but the way that William was talking he expected it to be feral, to launch itself across the room at him and attempt to tear out his throat.
Albert's lips lift at one corner along with the saw, to show him more fully "Just a little, I'm afraid."

A survivor that Albert has never seen before shivers inside a locker, curled into a ball on the floor. Albert is surprised enough to not react with violence right away, stalling long enough that one eye peeks up at him through the arms shielding his head. The cockroach jumps to his feet, and to Albert’s surprise, doesn’t try to run. Albert’s arm is grabbed and the taller man is tugged into the locker, the door slammed behind the two of them.
”There’s a monster out there!” The boy hisses, “Be careful!”
Albert tastes bile, and thinks, ‘I am the monster’. He says nothing.
