Ilya blinks.
“On what?”
“Who can get the most numbers tonight, at this club?”
Ilya’s grin falters for half a second, just long enough for Shane to see the flicker of surprise on his face, before a spark of excitement flashes in his eyes. He tilts his head, gaze dragging over Shane like he’s checking for tells.
“You are joking.”
“What’s the matter? Worried you’ll lose?”
The dare lingers, sticky-sweet, and Shane realizes — too late — he might have just stepped into a trap of his own making. Then Ilya downs the rest of his drink in one swallow, and slams the glass down.
“Deal.”
