But sometimes, the pressure of being out, and the endless online speculation about #hollanov, and rumors running rampant through the NHL, and a new generation of rookies looking up to them, and the knowledge that everyone is relying on Shane Hollander to be perfect at all times—sometimes it's a lot.

Angel tipped his head back, baring his throat for Spike's lips. He was breathing faster than he meant to, couldn't take in enough of the scent of Spike's skin, of his hair. His hands swept over the firm, cool body. There were too many places to touch, too much to hold all at once. He could feel his blood moving on the inside, as if something in him were coming alive. The blood tingled under his skin as Spike sucked hard kisses into his neck. “You,” Angel sighed, “are ruining my whole plan.”
“You sent me two bloody inches away,” Spike breathed into his neck between kisses. “If that's your best plan, we're fucked, Angel.”

Summary
The death of Drusilla triggered events that Buffy nor her friends could have ever predicted.
Spike loses the center of his world, Angelus loses patience, and Buffy Summers loses the right to believe this war ends cleanly. What follows is not a story about redemption or justice, but about what happens when ancient monsters decide that death is too small a consequence for betrayal.
Angelus does not seek justice, and he does not offer mercy. What he offers is correction. With Spike at his side, bound by grief, rage, and a bond neither of them fully understands, Angelus sets out to reclaim what was taken; not by ending the Slayer’s life, but by reshaping it. Because death would be too simple, and forgiveness was never on the table.
As vengeance tightens into something darker and far more binding, lines are crossed that cannot be uncrossed, and identities are stripped down to what remains once choice no longer matters. There's just a tiny bit of magic floating around after Willow ends the Will be Done spell, and it turns the resident captive vampire into a duckling. And he's so adorably angry about it. Question is now... who's going to take care of duckling!Spike? Oh, it's Buffy, of course.
But Spike being a duck doesn't mean everything else goes away. He's got a new perspective, and over time, so does Buffy. Changes to Season 4 grow as time goes on.
I'm sure someone's written something like this before, but I got the idea and here we are. The plot also started to happen, and now I can't stop it.

It's a shame, apocalypses would be so much easier to thwart if we didn't have those pesky feelings, but I guess that's just, like, the law of the universe or something. Oh, right, and there's still some dumb prophecy to worry about, too.
