Summary
It was not the exams that concerned Wednesday, nor was it any imminent threats of death; it was what came after. When university was finished, they would go out into the world and decide what to do with their lives, but one question rattled around her head like a record skipping back to the same verse, caught in an eternal loop. “Where does that leave us?” It was one which echoed in her mind endlessly, only increasing in volume when she glanced at their hands mere centimetres apart on the desk in front of her. Perhaps the question she should really have been asking was “Is there even an us?”

Summary
“I know how much you two used to love a good interrogation,” Gomez boomed, entering the room from behind Enid and patting her gently on the shoulder. The moment his hand made contact with her shoulder, her vision clouded.
She let out a long wheezing cough, doubling over with her hands on her knees as the taste of smoke flooded her senses. A hearty laugh sounded next to her and once again it was Gomez’s voice that she heard.
Enid stood straight and realised she was now standing on a porch overlooking a vast expanse of land. She wanted to ask Gomez where they were but in that moment she realised she had no control over her body. It wasn’t like she was frozen, it more felt like she was gazing through a window into her own life but with none of the discomfort something like that should bring. Instead she felt calm and, for the first time in her life, like she belonged.

“Stop it! That tickles,” Enid giggled, gently pushing the snout away, scratching the wolf's cheek as she did. When she did, Wednesday let out a low growl like a cat purring, and her eyes relaxed almost closing. Enid felt a flutter in her stomach. There was no way that Wednesday Addams liked scritches.

“Sorry, my parents just called and… Anyway, I’m fine, really,” Enid stammered, putting on a very unconvincing smile. Even as she spoke, fresh tears welled in her eyes, and her chest tightened as it threatened to release another sob.
Wednesday, subtly raised an eyebrow, “Forgive me if I don’t believe you. Seriously, Enid, what happened?”
