Summary
Shane Hollander works at a coffee shop, plays hockey, keeps his head down, and doesn’t ask questions he doesn’t need the answers to.
So when a new regular starts showing up—quiet, watchful, Russian-accented, and conducting invitation-only meetings in the back—Shane notices. When that same man takes an unsettling interest in Shane’s closing shifts, his routines, and his safety, Shane does what feels sensible: he adjusts his behavior and keeps his mouth shut.
Ilya Rozanov orders an Americano. He reads, but only in Russian. He worries when people work late alone.
They are operating with very different definitions of danger.
If he didn’t ask questions, he couldn’t be lied to.
The rules were simple.
1. Do not ask questions you don’t need the answer to.
2. Do not share personal information freely.
3. Do not be alone with Ilya Rozanov.
4. Do not give him a reason to think you’re afraid.Series

Summary
Shane hates losing control and the last several months-years if he's being honest-have been nothing but him trying to grab onto any choice he can make for himself. In the wake of being outed, exiled from the team he's dedicated his life to, and losing everything he's worked so hard for just because of who he fell in love with, Shane does the only thing he can: he runs until he feels like he's far enough away that he can't hear anyone else's opinions.
It's time for Shane to make a decision, just once, he wants to choose something for himself.

Summary
Shane had one thing. One. Rozanov was charming and witty and confident and handsome, all the things that Shane had never seen in himself. If he lost hockey, he’d still be the kind of person artists made songs and poems and paintings about.
Things were different for Shane. When hockey left him, he would have nothing left to give.
On Shane Hollander's relationship with hockey.

Summary
It’s nice, having a husband. Even nicer when the doctor leaves and Ilya turns to hold him properly, wrapping both arms around his shoulders, eyes gooey and soft as he looks at Shane like something treasured.
Shane can’t tell him. He can’t lose this, the way Ilya is looking at him, the ease in how he touches Shane, his husband. No amount of lights shining in his eyes or shouting at the top of his lungs would hurt as much as seeing Ilya’s expression shutter, seeing his face look like it did at Sochi, cold and closed off and not Shane’s anything.
(OR: Shane wakes up in the future and realizes he has everything he's ever wanted. He doesn't tell anyone he's missing a decade worth of memories as he comes back to himself in pieces.)
