If she was ranking missions, it was Yelena's opinion that, going undercover at a popular nightclub, wasn't the worst one possible.
When the New Avengers are sent out on a seemingly straight forward mission in a night club, Yelena had assumed her biggest concern would be keeping an eye on Bob during his first time out in the field. And perhaps how many mocktails she would let herself enjoy. Or why she was having so many, new, confusing feelings for Bob, not just professionally, but also during all those late nights she spent listening to Bob's steady voice as he read to her.

But when the mission twists into something unexpected, Yelena is forced to deal with the ghosts of her past and all the scars that go along with them.

“You are my wild sun,” she explains when Bob tells her he doesn’t know what they mean. He puzzles over the name. There is nothing wild about him. Bob is no burning sun at all, not even a flicker of light, all quiet and small. Not a thing to be feared, only to feel fear. If he was, if he was strong, maybe his parents would have found a way to love him. He tells her so, the first part at least, unable to voice the latter. Babcia Ruta just places her palms on either side of his face, kissing him on the crown of his head.

It was the reason why she also offered her services to either help someone find their soulmate for the right price or sever them from their fate. She’s fine with tampering in the gods’ domain, taking cash in exchange for reunions and amputations of the heart, as long as she never finds out whose heart is connected to hers.
Mm, no, thank you. Too much sentimentality made her itchy, like a vest two sizes too small.
Until she finally felt it tugging at the very end, leading to her newest neighbor next door!
