Summary
Buck has wanted this—really wanted this—for years.
A kid. A home. Someone who needs him.
What he maybe hadn’t planned for was the fact that Theo is basically a four-year-old clone of himself with less self-preservation instincts and even more energy.
After three months of parenting on very little sleep, an overtime-heavy work schedule, and a migraine building behind his eyes like an incoming natural disaster, Buck makes one questionable decision:
He invites Eddie and Christopher over for pizza night.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Summary
There are some calls where the fire is the main issue. The building burns, the car explodes, the wildfire rages. There could be some losses, both big and small. What is predictable is that the fire burns, and when it is out, and the victims are transported out or safe, the call is over. Of course, there is the wrap-up and all the accompanying paperwork. Nevertheless, these calls feel finite. The team turn up and leave, never to return again. There are, however, calls where the fire is the least of the problem. These calls are harder. The fire is a symptom, not the root of the issue. These calls are harder to leave. Sometimes they become something to return to. Sometimes they end up haunting you for a long time after you left. Every part of Eddie is screaming at him that this is going to be one of the second type of calls. He hopes he’s just being pessimistic.
Or: Eddie has a terrible day at work, experiences the horrors, and gets stabbed for his efforts.

Summary
Eddie chuckled at this, "Sorry bud, I just couldn't do it."
Chris sighed, "Well please do it soon. I can't handle this," he made a circular motion with his hand at Eddie, "any longer."
"What's this?"
"You're — gloomy."
"Hey! I'm not gloomy."
Chris shrugged, a smile twitching at his lips, "You definitely are."
"Go finish setting up the table."
"All done, sir!"
Eddie nodded, lips twitching at Chris' mock army tone, "Okay great then just give me a sec, I'll bring this out in a sec."
"Fine," Chris smiled. He walked back to the kitchen archway but stopped before walking out, "Please just tell him dad."
Eddie gave Chris a weak smile and nod, "I will. I promise."
He absolutely was not going to do it. Now that Buck was physically here and this became very real, Eddie realised this was most certainly a horrible horrible idea...
OR: Christopher Diaz is God sent and ensures Eddie confesses his feelings to Buck

Summary
“A star?” he whispered.
Eddie nodded slowly. “Yeah.”
“A silver one?”
“Yes.”
Theo turned to Buck, whispering louder. “Buck.”
“I know.”
“Buck.”
“Yeah.”
“He has a star.”
Buck’s expression shifted before he could stop it. Pride first. Then something warmer underneath, something Eddie did not have the emotional bandwidth to inspect too closely.
“I know,” Buck said softly.
Then, because Buck had apparently decided Eddie didn’t deserve to survive dinner, he added, “Eddie’s kind of a big deal.”
