Hermione’s hand was poised above the door knob. She stood outside the small shop for several minutes before she even approached the wooden door. It was almost closing time. She watched him help a customer through the picture window for some time, hidden in the street’s dark shadows at the junction of Diagon and Knockturn Alleys. Her eyes took in the bold lettering of the store sign, The Poisoned Pen, Books and Potions, Est. 2008. She smiled at the name despite her nerves.

Summary
Two years after the Battle of Hogwarts, Harry Potter is dead.
Volemort has won the war, his power and influence spreading across Europe.
The Order of the Phoenix remains, but splintered and weakened by the blow of Harry's death during the Battle of Hogwarts. With the Chosen One gone, leadership of the Order has fallen to Kingsley Shacklebolt.
Clinging to hope, the Order has taken drastic measures by means of an alliance with a member of the Dark Lord's inner circle.
Hermione Granger, now a member of the Order's inner circle is tasked with gathering intelligence from this new ally. Her first mission is to infiltrate a masquerade ball in which all of the Dark Lord's inner circle and Death Eaters will be in attendance.
She finds herself in a familiar Manor, surrounded by danger at every angle. An eerily familiar voice breaks her concentration.
"I didn't expect them to send you of all people, Granger. The Order is that desperate that they would send their Golden Girl into the snake pit?"
