Summary
So, Dex forced himself to shut up. But Murdock still didn’t move, only cocked his head a little to the side, eyes drifting away in thought. “Your heart’s beating pretty fast.” He spoke quietly, and Dex felt like a fucking wine glass ready to shatter from the rumble in his throat. Matt was testing him. Seeing if he’d cower from this.. display. But what the hell was he hoping would happen?
His eyes darted in between the other man’s, back and forth and back and forth—his heart was only beating faster, and Matt knew, God, he fucking knew—Dex was a cornered animal, and this guy was just waiting for him to lose his shit. His eyes drifted to the cut, the spark of joy at its existence immediately overwhelmed by.. this. “You know that’s creepy, right?”
“Yeah, I know.” A hand crept towards his face. Dex briefly thought that he would burst into flames.

“You don’t have to do this,” Dex’s voice cracked as he protested, though didn’t resist as Matt ripped his shirt the rest of the way off, taking the blood-soaked rag from the man’s limp hand against his side. “Stop talking.” Dex didn’t bother to fight as Matt grabbed his shoulder, planting a knee in between his legs and pulling him forwards to feel around his back for an exit wound. The first thing he felt was thick, raised scar tissue along Dex’s spine, the other man’s breath shuddering audibly with the sensation. Further down, his fingers dragged along his overheated skin, going left to right, ignoring the hand wrapping around his forearm—was the bullet still inside?
Or, Matt’s unwittingly becoming Dex’s brand new North Star, amongst other things.

Robby turns away from the room himself, stepping half back into the hall and the darkened corridor allows the rest of the logical argument against this decision to come flashing through his head: He is a student. You are his superior. He is half your age. You do not care enough about that. If his crush on you doesn’t undo you both, your attraction to him will. He tries to filter through the thoughts, fight them back with the only rational justification he has: He needs help and I can help him. The right thing to do is help him. I need to do the right thing just once tonight.
