Summary
It’s funny, really, how little they talk. What is there to talk about? They were completely different people back when all George’s face inspired in Max was annoyance, that hasn’t suddenly changed just because he’s a little fonder of him now.
When Max brings up video games or his plans to go play darts with friends, George hums along and pretends to care. Max can’t muster up the same pretense when George talks about padel or whatever gossip his girlfriends have fed him at brunch so instead he busies himself with tracing the shape of his lips with his eyes, imagining them swollen and wrapped around him.
More relationships would last longer if people just ignored each other’s personalities and focused on sex, Max thinks.

She stomps off before jumping into the air, intending to fly the rest of the way back to the castle. Her shriek echoes through the trees, scattering birds and humandrills alike.
OR: Mihawk is tired of being the only one capable of getting supplies off the island, so he decides to instruct Perona and Zoro on how to sail his ship so they can do it instead. Of course, nothing goes as planned.

That boy will die on the Stone Table…” She pauses, regarding them. A tiny, razor-sharp smile lifts the corners of her lips, her eyes. Edmund is stiller than Peter has ever seen him. Still as stone. As death. As one of the Witch’s statues. The smile grows to a smirk as she finishes, “…as is tradition.”
Before the Witch can say anything else, before Edmund can shrink further into himself or Lucy can cry, before Peter can allow the dark froth of fear sloshing in his stomach to rise any higher—before Peter can consider the consequences, he says, “Take me instead.”

“Look at you,” Jannik murmured, angling Carlos toward the mirror. His hand slid upward across Carlos’s chest, unhurried, the heel of his palm grazing pec, fingers trailing until they curled lightly at his throat. He didn’t press — just rested there, thumb brushing the hollow where a pulse thrashed too fast, fingers settling in the precise place that promised what he could take if he wanted.
Carlos’s breath caught, heart kicking, the phantom of pressure enough to unravel him.
Jannik’s hand eased down again, leisurely and sure, over the slope of his chest, pausing to pinch at a nipple until Carlos gasped aloud. The sound earned a low, satisfied hum against his ear.
Only then did Jannik’s hand trail lower, deliberate, until it cupped the straining bulge in his jeans. He squeezed, slow and hard, enough to drag a sharp sound from Carlos’s throat as his body arched into it.
In the blur of music and smoke, he sees him — fire-lit hair, eyes like a challenge.
A stranger who moves like he owns the night.
Hunger pulls Carlos closer.
