Really, she asked for this stress. Technically, she didn't even have to be come. Celine is perfectly capable of watching the Honmoon choose the second Hunter. Is more than capable even, seeing as she actually knows what to look for. Rumi's only experienced the Honmoon firsthand, so she has no idea what another person interacting with it would even look like.
So no. She doesn't have to be here but- It's been months of waiting alone at the compound with the welcome bear she crocheted, and, honestly, she can't stand waiting at the front door like an ill-trained golden retriever for one more day so... here she is.

Summary
After the fight on the train, Rumi returns to the penthouse convinced the only way to save the Honmoon is to remove herself from the equation entirely. Mira and Zoey follow her onto the rooftop and finally discover the truth, neither of them react the way Rumi expects.
Or: Rumi learns that being a demon and being loved are not mutually exclusive.

Summary
They're standing above her now. The thrum of the Honmoon as Mira draws her weapon brings her back to the present.
Rumi decided a long time ago that when this moment came, she would meet her death gracefully. Her avenging angels stand over her weapons blazing. She would go quietly. Screaming would upset Zoey and only make Mira angrier.
She's glad it's them. There's no better sight than her hunters taking down the evil that haunts their world. Bad luck that Rumi is that evil.
She knows it’s time and Rumi is determined to spare them the inconvenience of her screams.

“Rumi?” Mira questioned uncertainly. The demons had frozen as well, staring at Rumi as she stared back. The tense silence stretched. The hallway felt like the oxygen had been sucked out and the dim lighting cast shadows all around.
“Rumi, there’s no such thing as half demons. We would know. Celine would have told us. It has to be a trick….” Zoey said but it was clear she still had her own reservations.
And what could Rumi say to that? Celine had said she could find no records of any other half demons, not anywhere in the archive. How could hunters have never encountered a single half demon in the nearly 800 years since the honmoon was created? What were the chances they would meet them now, in this generation, when Rumi herself was one? It felt like a trap. It had to be a trap.
But…
“Rumi?”
“She’s bleeding.” She said softly. “Demons don’t bleed.”
