Summary
Ash is not someone that Brock ever would have associated with the word “clingy.” He was the most independent kid Brock had ever met, besides himself of course. You didn’t raise 10 siblings by relying on other people after all. He’s had to be in the position of main caretaker since a young age, which was part of the reason he liked hanging around Ash so much.
Ash is known for his independence and stubbornness. So when he comes down with an illness during their journey, the last thing Brock is expecting is for the ten year old to cling to him.

Eddie edged close enough to spot Steve’s bruised lip, the blood streaking one side of his face. “Jesus, what happened to you, man?”
Steve’s knees buckled, and he slumped heavily onto them. Eddie indulged in a split second of indecision—he could just run away. Then he caught Steve, clumsily, before Steve crumpled face-first into the mud. So, there Eddie was, arms wrapped around platinum dickhead, Steve Harrington. He nodded toward a log. “Okay, big guy, do you think you can make it over to that luxurious couch?”

Summary
He throws the car in park and removes the key before leaning forward slightly to rest his forehead on the steering wheel. The car shakes as the kids scramble out of it, slamming the doors closed behind them. Each resulting WHAM sets off fireworks behind Steve’s closed eyelids.
He just needs a minute. One minute of silence. Then, he’ll go inside to wrangle the kids and clean up before Mrs. Byers gets back.
A hand lands on his shoulder and he jumps, whipping his head to see who’s touching him. Pain floods over the left side of his head and down through his neck and shoulders. He presses a hand into his left eyebrow, trying to chase the pain away with the pressure.
Dustin still sits in the passenger seat next to him. His hand tightens on his shoulder, eyes blown wide.
“Steve, hey, you okay?”
