Order 66 is avoided, because of a translation error between Palpatine and the Kaminoans. Rather than Order 66 being issued, Order 3 is issued instead.
Order 3: Commanders have been found unsuitable for current units. All commanders are to switch units and reassume command.
What that means: The Commanders all get to switch jobs. This ends amazingly and also Palpatine dies.

Summary
Anakin Skywalker liked to think he’d changed ever since his Clone Wars days. As a father and a husband in exile, he liked to think he’d tamed that angry and aggressive part of himself after walking the line for years and almost Falling that fateful day at the ex-Chancellor, now Emperor’s office. He didn’t want to risk it like that ever again. Force knows his family would not forgive him.
However, Anakin underestimated how quickly such emotions could come back to him under special circumstances, such as right now. Said special circumstances being - the Alderaanian Senator and Rebel Alliance leader Bail Organa informing him that his former apprentice, his sister, his best friend, is alive. Six years after Order 66. And, apparently, it had been kept a secret from him all this time.
(or: Anakin Skywalker reunites with his former Padawan after six years.)
