Legosi extends a finger toward the ladybug perched on the colorful arrangement. “You are right,” he feels like the biggest idiot, he even put on his nicest shirt to see Louis. “I’ll head back home,” he murmurs trying to muster a smile.

First and foremost, she left him with a bald spot. And when you really think about it, it was simply evil. Maybe he deserved it a little for calling her a dog, and to this day Taigen hesitates to use that terrible word in every context. But no one should have to feel the soft skin of the crown of their head at such a young age. Taigen had to fight a whole lot of people because they decided to make fun of his bald spot.

Summary

The story begins after he's been rescued by Robert and Murasaki, who are at a loss as to how to help him. Post-war Paris is filled with memories of Europe's violence, so Murasaki and Chiyoh bring Hannibal to a remote cottage in Louisiana in an attempt to help him recover.
While exploring the bayou, Hannibal meets a local boy named Will, age 11, who seems to know exactly what he needs, even if Hannibal cannot speak.
As the years pass, their bond grows, and becomes unbreakable.

“I would argue that leaving the hickeys in my throat isn’t discreet either,” Hannibal tells him, entirely too smug for Will’s taste. It makes Will almost snarl.
“I will argue that acting like a brainless whore, failing on purpose to ask ‘Oh no, what can I do for extra credit, professor Graham?’ as if we were in a cheap porn is the approach that’ll get you inside my pants.”
“At least it made you get inside mine.”
Or: Hannibal is failing all his tests in purpose, and professor Graham needs to take the matter in his hands. Quite literally.
