Omegaverse AU: Where it’s common for alphas in the military to regularly engage the services of omegas, in order to prevent ruts interfering with their work.
When alpha Ghost invites alpha Soap to share an omega for that very reason, Soap expects a night of awkward, one-sided sex that he’ll inevitably regret. Because even alphas as close as they are can become dangerously territorial, when omegas are involved.
Maybe it’s a good thing, then, that the omega never shows up at all.

PS: I was planning it as PWP but ended up with the whole plot here. So, Johnny might be not really typical. More like a very slutty and very clever power bottom, the Captain type. And their energy and mind clashes well with grim dominant Ghost. For the plot, you'll need to read.

“So is the war,” Soap pointed out. “Depending on who you ask.” Slowly, he ran his hand around the back of Ghost’s head and tilted it down.
Fuck, he shouldn’t be doing this. Not with his superior officer, and certainly not in the middle of their deployment to Baghdad, Iraq, 2003.

“Lieutenant Riley, I presume?” Klaus’s voice rang out steady, wrapped in that same rolling German accent. He raised his mug of disgusting coffee in a lazy, mocking salute, as if the most dangerous man in Task Force 141 was just an old drinking buddy. “Pleasure to finally meet you. Captain Price has been talking my ears off about you.”
John felt the tension behind his back shift in tone. Ghost’s fingers, which had been gripping the back of the chair hard enough to turn white, slowly unclenched. Simon straightened to his full, intimidating height. MacTavish heard a heavy exhale through the fabric of the mask and the familiar creak of combat boots on linoleum as the lieutenant took a step sideways, finally stepping out of John’s blind spot.
Ghost folded his powerful arms across his chest, towering over the table. His gaze scanned Klaus from head to toe like the scope of a sniper rifle — cold, calculating, searching for weak spots.
“But about you,” Simon’s voice rolled out low, like stone grinding against stone, cutting through the hum of voices in the common room, “I haven’t heard a damn thing. And that suited me just fine.”

Summary
The story opens deep in a cold, overgrown forest in northern Europe during a recovery mission gone sideways. Task Force 141 is temporarily attached to a civilian specialist: a rusty, sleep-deprived environmental professor named Dr. Ward who claims the forest hides remnants of abandoned Cold War bunkers. Soap immediately dislikes him. Ghost dislikes everyone.
The atmosphere is tense and apprehensive from the start: radios glitch, footprints, and the forest seems almost too quiet. Ghost thinks Soap is reckless. Soap thinks Ghost is a paranoid bastard with a superiority complex. Soap and Ghost get closer throughout the mission turned survival.Bookmarked by Black_Operative
