When Sokka was nine, he got his first soulpain.
It was nothing to worry about really. His soulmate likely just stubbed their toe or tripped. Nonetheless, Sokka freaked out.
He buried his face in his mother's parka, hiding his tears from the world.
He told her about how unfair it was, that he had to feel someone else's pain. How he hated to think of some random kid out there hurting whenever he did something stupid and injured himself.
He told her how he wished he didn't have a soulmate.
"Sokka, darling," she cooed, "your soulmate isn't meant to bring pain; they're meant to be a symbol of love and peace."

Lance had first started appearing around the Holt house only a few weeks after Matt graduated from high school. According to the pair of them, they’d met two years prior at a Space-&-Aviation convention at their school. Pidge had met Lance once before at one of Matt’s school events, but they hadn’t realised just how close the two were at the time. After seeing them together more often though, Pidge wished they could unsee it.
So when Matt and Sam departed for Kerberos, Lance was right there with Pidge and Karen Holt.
After the news of the Kerberos disaster reached them, Lance had stopped coming by to their house. He’d stopped going to school from what Pidge could tell. Pidge had infrequently tried calling his phone only to be put on voicemail each time. They gave up trying as their own life – and investigations – took forefront.
Pidge’s reaction to meeting their captain– the pilot in their team –was not an exaggerated one by any means.

They lose both the battle and the war when Damian stops waiting for them and instead stumbles forward, almost drunkenly, and unceremoniously flops himself on Jason’s front, full-on crying against his chest.
“Jesus fuck, Baby-bat. Who do I have to kill?”
(Or the one where Jason and Tim come to the Manor on the early hours of the day after a long night of patrol and they find weird new kind of life form out of this world that cries with snot and all inside the Manor. It takes them some time, because they are both dumbasses, to convince themselves that's actually their little brother crying his eyes out.)

It was strange, the phantom sensations he’d retained after the accident – the things he felt, even with almost everything human in his body gone. He didn’t have a stomach any more, and yet he felt the bottom drop out of it.

When Captain Marvel sends out a distress call, the only League member available is Batman. Bruce comes to his aid, but he finds out that Billy is a 10-year-old homeless orphan with black hair and blue eyes. Obviously, he makes the only logical decision and adopts Billy. Because it's Bruce—who's allergic to revealing life-changing information—the League is left in the dark.
This story is written as 5+1 story from the Justice League's POV as they attempt to define the weird relationship between Batman and Captain Marvel. 5 times they didn't realize Batman had adopted Captain Marvel, and the 1 time they did.
