It's as if the entire world stills. Dean knows that the three of them continue talking from the way their mouths move, but he hears nothing. Four months of nonstop searching come to his mind, tearing the library apart, asking every contact they have, searching every side of the internet. All of it leads to this moment
His ears zero in on Cas and found a way, and even though he should be feeling joy at finally having a lead after all this time, instead, he feels fear.

Cas is rescued from the Empty after months of being dead, and Dean is totally normal about it. Except there's one problem: Cas doesn't have a vessel. Thankfully, he's able to help solve that problem by sharing his body with his best friend. The two of them learn how to live in the same body while Jack works on rebuilding Cas's vessel.

Dean is qualified, of course. Responsible, even. Disturbingly good with children. Castiel’s eight-year-old adores him almost immediately.
He spends significantly longer trying not to. Because Dean has a habit of lingering in the kitchen after Claire falls asleep, fixing things around the house that were never his responsibility and looking unfairly comfortable in a life that doesn’t belong to him.

The bar is loud when Castiel walks in, but he pays it no mind. The mission is simple: walk past everyone and go straight to his private room. There he will force his vessel unconscious, and when he wakes up, he can deal with the consequences of whatever just occurred. Easy. He keeps his eyes fixed directly ahead and ignores everything else.
“Cas?” Sam calls, standing up from the bar.
He doesn’t acknowledge him; instead, he increases his pace.
“Woah, hey, Cas,” Sam says, grabbing him by the shoulders, “Where’s the fire?”
