Summary
“That’s what I’m worried about.”
“Sorry?” Peter turned to face his sister. She sat upon the Stone Table, her legs tucked beneath her, making her look young. But her eyes were steady.
“Well, you’re all acting like there’s only two options: dying here or dying there.”
“I’m not sure you’ve really been listening, Lu- “
“No, you’re not listening. Or have you forgotten who really defeated the White Witch, Peter?”---
(Three ways Peter could have responded to this question. It turns out he has unresolved anger toward Aslan.) -

Summary
Like T’Challa’s, Shuri’s room was dark, but Ramonda was startled to see the toys her daughter had stowed on the shelves and cabinets, and she was suddenly struck by how young Shuri was. She was only eight years old now. She had only been 16 when she had died, dissolving in Ramonda’s arms.
A wave of grief rose in Ramonda, and she fell to her knees by the door. She had been in shocked denial during Shuri’s death, and when she had learned about T’Challa’s from a horrified Okoye, but now, seeing both her children alive, the tears she had been holding back came pouring out in quiet, hiccupping sobs. T’Chaka fell to his knees beside her, and his arms encircled her protectively, holding her close, not asking anything. He rocked her gently and hummed old lullabies they had sung to the children under his breath as she cried into his chest, relishing in the knowledge of her family around her, alive.
---
(Or: After the events of Infinity War, Ramonda, Queen of Wakanda, wakes up in 2010 in bed with her dead husband. After determining that this is not, in fact, a dream, she sets about doing everything she can to save her children. She swears nothing will ever hurt them again.)

Summary
She had his eyes.
It was the first thing James noticed beyond the fact that she wasn’t a threat. The blue eyes were piercing, staring at him from beyond her scraggly brown hair. She was just…staring at him, unphased by his presence in her home. Madeleine moved next to him, resting a hand on his forearm – to hold him there, or to brace him?
Her voice was barely above a whisper. “This is Mathilde.”
His brain caught up from where it had stalled because…she had his eyes. His “hello” was automatic, field training kicking in because he was in too much of a daze to think of anything beyond ‘if she has my eyes did that mean-?’---
(Or: James follows Madeleine home and instead finds her daughter. Follows his first meeting with Mathilde, and Madeleine's reaction and actions after his death.)

Summary
Shame washes her in dusky pink, hidden by the night sky, as her boss and her Hinge-find shake hands.
"Nice to meet you. I'm Jack."
"Likewise. How do you know Sam?" her date asks.
Jack throws her a look, bland and flat, and she doesn't know if she should laugh or die.
(or, three times jack crashes samira's date on accident + the one time it's on purpose)

Summary
He must have gotten up too fast because his head spins in that light way it does when blood pressure doesn’t keep up. The adrenaline hasn’t settled out yet because his hands are still shaking, in fact all of him is still shaking. Why hasn’t he caught his breath yet? He presses a hand against the pinch in his chest like that might help. And why does it feel like there’s a rod jammed low in his sternum–
“Oh, fuck,” she says, her gaze sweeping him up and down.
He glances down to see what’s upset her – maybe she’s just offended that his cologne rubbed off on her or afraid he’ll blame her for the minor road rash that stings all the way up his left arm–
“Oh –” the knot in his chest is actually a hole and it’s bleeding over his hand “– fuck.”

Summary
The Danforth bloodline ended because of Titus’s recklessness. Because he allowed weakness to take root in him and failed to do what his father expected. There is no excuse for the lapse, for the guard he let slip. He should have been more careful—at least until the Coronation was complete. He should have killed Grace well before she had a chance to bargain for her life.
If only he could have another shot at it.
“Fortunately for you, your failure is also mine,” Le Bail says. “Yet I am not one who accepts defeat so easily. You will be given the chance to correct the outcome of the Game, and you will repeat it until the desired outcome is achieved.”
“Be warned,” Le Bail quickly adds. “What first appears a blessing may soon reveal itself to be a curse.”

Summary
“You’re fuckin’ thirty, you have just turned thirty, twelve hours ago,” he says incredulously. “You’ve still got your whole life ahead of you.”
“But I haven’t done anything!” she exclaims dramatically, gesturing with her glass hard enough that water splashes onto the table.
“You’re months away from finishing your residency,” Jack points out dryly as he reaches over to rescue the glass from her hand entirely. “And you had a paper published in The Lancet. I’d say those count as pretty significant achievements.”
Samira rolls her eyes at him again, like he’s deliberately missing the point.
“But I haven’t done anything else!”
Or—Samira kicks off her thirtieth birthday party with an existential crisis.
